A Statement on Immigration
The South Coast Interfaith Council affirms the inherent dignity of all people, regardless of immigration status, and expresses deep concern over the fear and division created by large-scale deportations and enforcement actions that undermine families, communities, and the moral fabric of our nation. Across our diverse faith and spiritual traditions, we hold a shared conviction that every individual is made with worth and deserves compassion, justice, and humane treatment. We call for comprehensive immigration reform that both secures our borders and protects vulnerable migrants from exploitation, violence, and vilification.
At this critical moment, we urge our elected officials and fellow citizens to listen to the moral voices rising from every faith and spiritual community. Immigration is not merely a political issue - it is a human issue that demands solutions rooted in respect, fairness, and care for displaced communities as well as those who feel destabilized by rapid change. We call upon all people of goodwill to reject rhetoric that dehumanizes immigrants and instead work together toward policies that honor both the rule of law and the sacred responsibility to love our neighbor. America’s strength lies not in exclusion, but in its capacity to uphold justice and extend compassion to all.
